Years ago homes all had lightning rods - not sure why they don't any longer, but I remember a house I bought that still had one and the grounding rod as well. I would think that having a modern version of a lightning rod to keep your solar array safe.

The two adobe projects I have seen you do have been excellent especially first timers. Your designs are so creative and your building practice is so neat compared to some others I have seen very well done guys.

Skinny little wires add inductance that restrict the rate current can "move". This could allow the voltage component of the lightning to do it's damage prior any effect by a suppression device. Thick and short conductors can really improve your chances, along with a proper grounding system, not just a single ground rod.

We live in Oro Valley, we are a home school family two 10 year olds. If you guys need any extra hands for volunteer work would love to come and help and teach my kids farm homestead life.
